Book Character Day

On Friday the children looked fabulous in their book character costumes. The children proudly paraded them in Assembly. It was thoroughly enjoyed by all. Here are some photos of the wonderful costumes.

Māori Language Week

This week in Kakano we have been celebrating Maori language week. The children have really enjoyed exploring the activities in the challenge room.

Mufti Day

Today we dressed up in mufti as people we admire to support Big Brothers and Big Sisters.
The children enjoyed sharing their costumes about who they admire and why.

PMP

The children enjoy going to the PMP room.

Kakano Highlights

Students in the Kakano Hub are enjoying coming to school.  This term the children have had the opportunity to enjoy spring weather on their scooters on the courts during Learning Through Play.

The Process

Thanks for your comment Mark.  Here are some photos of the process we used to create our space rockets and space shuttles.

First we sanded the pieces of wood we were using to make them smooth and take away all the bumps.

Next we put the pieces of wood together to get the shape we wanted.

The next step was to paint our rockets or shuttles.

Finally we glued the decorations onto our masterpieces.

Maker Space With Steve

This term our PBL topic is "What's our Place in Space?" We have been making rockets in Maker Space with Steve this term.  Here are some of the finished products. What do you think?

Learning Through Play

Here are some of our wonderful Kakano Children exploring and creating with the 'Moon dust' that Miss Bailey made.  We had a lot of fun this morning in Learning Through Play.  The conversations were rich and the children were very engaged.  We are very excited about our  PBL this term "what is our place in Space?" Stay tuned.........
